The Answer to Life the Universe and Everything?

or a desperate attempt by an absurd bunch of complete idiots trying to somehow appear tough? Yep, the 42 days internment proposal is currently winding its merry way through parliament. Without wishing to be too "I told you so" my posting on the scope creep and the thin end of the wedge are being borne out, with the 28 days now the accepted standard to compare with 42 days. This well written piece over at the Guardian illustrates this beautifully, "the existing 28 days limit is more than enough".

As our alleged representatives continue to flounder around trying to solve problems with methods that have always exacerbated them in the past, I actually found myself (for the first time ever) considering whether I would actually vote Conservative at the next election. It's all well and good sticking to the principles of voting for the party that most closely represents my views, but if they don't actually manage to get Labour out then what's the point?

Of course, I then remembered that the Tories are actually a worst bunch of bastards than Labour, and would most likely be pushing for the same thing if they were in power. And they don't actually have any policies asides from being all things to all people (and then presumably reverting to type if they ever get anywhere). At least Labour have a go at trying to help people, even if they are busy shafting us from the other direction. If I'm going to get shafted, I'd rather I was getting some tender words at the other end ...

It's a pity that the most interesting thing about the Lib Dems right now is how many people the leader has slept with. I still think it's a pity that Vince Cable didn't step up, he's been nothing but awesome throughout the National Rock circus (sorry, I mean crisis). Of course he'd have probably been destroyed by the media if he was permanent leader as being too old.

I voted tactically in 1997,

I voted tactically in 1997, purely on a "Tories out" ticket.
How about a hung parliament? That might shake things up a bit.
Who to vote for to get one though?
What we need is a hung parliament campaign website.
Hmmm
