Today, I woke up in the mood to sort out my website. So that is what I have done. Much of the change will be completely invisible to you, as it has mainly been about updating the backend software to a more recent version - I am now running drupal 5.10, instead of the antiquated (and probably insecure) 4.7.2. It would have taken a lot less time than it eventually did, but having written a module for the site myself last time (the last.fm list of recently played tracks) I had to find a new way of doing that (having decided I couldn't be arsed to write a new version of it). I have also removed the gallery completely from the site now, and got rid of the old links on the left.

But all that is just a load of detail no one really cares about asides from me. The exciting bit of the change is that I have now created a writing section (hidden in the top navigation). This new section is there for a couple of different reasons. First, I have been introducing a categorisation for my blog posts, and I will be keeping a more frequent writing diary going forward, which will be available through the writing section, or mingled with the overall blog. Second, and far more importantly, I am planning on publishing something new on the site every fortnight. I was originally thinking of going for once a week, but figured that was dooming me to fail before I'd even got going. The first story is available, which is a (hopefully) humorous short that started life as an email to some friends, it's called Paper Chase.

Eagle-eyed readers may also have noticed that I have adopted a creative commons license for the work, and this website. Given my limited audience, I don't see this having a big impact any time soon, but do please feel free to distribute the stuff I am providing, in accordance with the license (i.e. no commercial stuff without my express permission, and always credit me for it ;-)
