More Scope Creep to Come

Further to my post on The Thin End of the Wedge, we can see the British Government successfully shifting the debate of detention without trial. Previously they controversially aimed for 90 days, were defeated, and wound up settling on 28 days (up from 14). Now the plan is to have a limit of 42 days. Seriously, what a crock of shit. I just don't understand how it is possible to know that there is an imminent threat to public safety, and yet you then a month to gather evidence to charge them with something. Either they're about to do something, and you have evidence for it, or you are just arbitrarily locking people up because you think they might do something. Frankly I do not want that to become the accepted face of our society.
