Cooking

As a part of my sabattical, I decided that I would try to improve my skills in the kitchen beyond that of heating microwave meals or sticking a frozen pizza in the oven. As a result, I launched an appeal for recipes, which garnered a number of response from friends and family. I started off writing these up in the blog, but have decided I want to try and keep this as an easily accessible and separate part of the site. The main reason for this is that I want more recipes, and wanted to try and encourage this!

So here's what I am looking for:

Simple Meals

Meals that take between 30 and 45 minutes from start of preparation to eating. These will be perfect for me to eat in the evening after work, so the more of these that I can get, the better.

More Complex Meals

I am up for a bit of experimentation, however for the more complex meals, I must insist on strict adherance to the rules outlined below!

Cooking techniques

Descriptions of the best way to slice an onion, dice a tomato, peel an orange etc. Also tips on things like egg poaching and mashing potato (note these two examples are pretty much under control, but similar will be welcome).

The Rules

  1. The devil is in the detail - I am a cooking idiot, so please don't assume any knowledge unless it's already outlined here. Points awarded for really patronising descriptions.
  2. No peas - Any dish relying peas in any way will lead to looks of revulsion and potential vomitting on the keyboard. For the sake of my mac don't do it!!
  3. No links to recipes - I can search the web as well as anyone. The point of this is that it's fun to cook things that I know people have done in the past, and that I can call in the event of confusion and/or crisis. And websites tend to do a lot of knowledge assumption, clearly breaking rule 1

Please use the contact form to send me recipes, or general abuse regarding my laziness expecting people to send me recipes when the web is full of them!
